![]() Guest post by Scout the Cat’s Meow Omg, Popoki + Tea just opened in Kaimuki. It’s a local cat café, like the ones in Japan! Cat cafés are popular because it’s hard to own a pet when you live in the city due to small living spaces and buildings that are not pet friendly. So why not stroll down to the local cat café, play with some adorable fuzzballs, and get some snacks or a drink? It sounds like a wonderful way to spend a few hours. The café concept has increased in popularity and now you can visit owls, hedgehogs, and even maids. Um, what?? Anyway, what makes Popoki + Tea even more special, besides being the first cat café in Hawaii, is that the cats you meet are all up for adoption! It's purr-fect! Also, back in August 2019, Popoki + Tea and Sheila Chen held a meowdel contest for a cat mural in the café. I was one of the 25 meowdels chosen! I’m so honored to be a part of this exciting new business that’s beneficial to humans and cats alike! Whether you’re from Hawaii or visiting, I hope you’re able to stop by. Meow for now, Scout

Procrastination is tough. The more you put off something, the harder it is to muster the motivation to actually do it. And sometimes, it would've been less torture just to fold the laundry instead of staring at the unfolded mess every time you went into the living room and feeling bad about it. Well, today, on Fight Procrastination Day, I want you to know that you're not alone. Scout says it best:
![]() Guest post by Scout the Cat’s Meow Aloha, furriends! My name is Scout but you may know me as Scout the Cat’s Meow on Instagram. My dream is to be a cat influencer because I have great taste! I like yummy food and cute things. And I want you to enjoy cute things, too! What’s my favorite thing right now? Oh that’s easy: cat hats! You can find cat hats in Japan, mostly in gatchopon machines. Here’s a pic of me in my favorite hat: Sometimes I dream of opening an online store that specializes in cat hats. How fun would that be? Would you visit my store? Try on a few hats? Or maybe it could be a place where you wear some cute hats and Instagram-worthy pics. Then you don’t have to buy a gazillion hats. The cute pic is really the goal. After all, #picsoritdidnthappen, right? Meow for now, Scout One of my favorite lunches is warmed up frozen vegetables with a dash of butter, a sprinkle of salt, and a dash of pepper. I know this is more like a side dish (where's the protein? where are the whole grains?) but when I'm busy working, sometimes I just need something to get me through the day.
At my previous job, people thought I was crazy for loving frozen vegetables and eating them regularly. As a person who grew up a picky eater, I've learned not to judge people by what they eat. What business is it of mine if someone doesn't like something? Who cares? Unfortunately, not everyone is like this and more often than not, they'll judge my food choices. Now that I work at a health organization, my coworkers don't judge my passion for a steamable bag of broccoli. In fact, many of them will go to Walmart with me and buy five bags of frozen veggies to store in the freezer for lunches for the week. How about that! Anyway, here's a blog post I wrote for Island Scene Online about celebrating Healthy Lunch Day. It's nice to work in a place where my healthy habits are appreciated instead of mocked. I might be the most lethargic person I know! Sure, during the week I can hit 10,000 steps easy, especially since I'm able to squeeze in a 30 minute workout. But on the weekends, it's not uncommon for me to have about 2k steps a day. That's terrible!
Here's an article, Watch Your Step, I wrote for Island Scene Online filled with tips on how to hit that 10k step goal every day. |
