I love mochi. Whether it's daifuku, chichi dango, butter mochi, filled with anko, or covered in kinako, I love it. But, my best friend, though she enjoys mochi, doesn't care for bean filled mochi or kinako. Understandable! So when I bought a tray of Kansai Yamato mochi from Sam's Club to celebrate Girls Day, I wanted to label each delectable piece of mochi so there wouldn't be any confusion or disappointment. Easy right? Wrong! I Googled "Kansai Yamato mochi" and was only able to identify a few flavors. But for the most part, all I found were blurry pics or mochi labeled "assorted." Not helpful. Kansai Yamato's website is useless and difficult to navigate and though they have lots of pics and reviews on Yelp, there's no easy way to find a simple list of mochi flavors. Argh! So I took it upon myself to cut open each type of mochi and log my results. Please keep in mind that by the time you're reading this, the variety pack may be different or Kansai Yamato may have changed up their flavors/colors. You'd think there'd be a mochi legend or something on Kansai Yamato's website or social media feed but since that's not the case, here we go. I hope this is helpful! Green: Melon flavor inside and out. Orange: Mango flavor inside and out. Pink: Peanut butter filled. Sesame: Sesame outside, red bean inside. Kinako: Kinako outside, red bean inside. White: Red bean inside. How easy was that you ask? So super easy and delicious! Doitashimashite!
